Dive of the Week: Chef Tanya’s Kitchen

Tucked into an industrial district of Palm Springs is a total gem for both vegetarians and vegans: Chef Tanya’s Kitchen.

The store section was a complete stash of every high-quality alternative you could imagine for folks with restrictions, or who are just trying to cut back on animal products. We had a lactose-sensitive friend coming to visit– no problem, we easily found her specific brand of oat milk. With the holiday upcoming, I wanted a meat-alternative for the big meal, and found a “Vellington”– a ‘beef’ Wellington stuffed with sweet potatoes, kale, and seitan.

Seitan is one of Chef Tanya’s specialities– it’s as good as any meat alternative I have tried. And I’ve been vegetarian for 20+ years. Even Moon, a voracious meat-eater, enjoyed the sandwiches on the fresh food side of the small shop.

Check out their vegan “Cubano” sandwich below– fresh slaw, avocado, and crisped seitan ‘chicken’ that mimicked fried chicken exceptionally. We kept coming back to Chef Tanya’s several times in our time in Palm Springs.

Whether you’re a meaty person or a veggie person, Chef Tanya is making incredible food. 5 stars!

Rating: 5 out of 5.
