Just outside Santa Fe is Tesuque Village, a small community that contains under 1,000 people and is the native home of the Tewa and Tesuque Pueblo people. The area is now residential, smattered with just a few hundred houses, and just happens to contain one of the best places to eat in all of New Mexico.
Tesuque Village Market takes New Mexican dishes to the next level of freshness, quality, and flavor– the mushroom and rice Chile Relleno with green chile sauce was so flavorful, and spicy, that my sinuses comfortably cleared. The homemade chips and salsa are fantastic, and they actually use a wood-fired oven to bake pizzas that are crisp and delicious.
The word is out about this spot– you might have to wait, even if dropping in at a random time. But it is absolutely worth it. Tesuque Market also contains a store with some of the best ingredients and products out there– so you’ll have something to do while you wait.
