Mac’s View: Los Angeles– a Scary Place!

Hello, it’s me again– Mac.

I hate to say anything bad about a place, but I really don’t like Los Angeles– it’s a pretty terrifying city.

I want to start out by saying, if you are a bit squeamish about wounds, maybe don’t continue. But the good news is, I’ve been recovering for weeks and am feeling much better now.

So, you’re probably wondering why I am wearing this cone: and trust me, I was, too.

But mom told me that I had a mass removed of some kind. My vet was worried about a spot on my side, which was growing over time and looked suspicious to them. They said they wanted to remove it to be safe– and suddenly, I felt a pinch in my paw, and I didn’t remember much after that– I got very woozy.

When I came to, I felt terrible. Like regular pain, only more intense– and I felt foggy in my brain, like I was dizzy.

To top off the suffering, mom put me in a Cone of Shame so I couldn’t even lick my stitches.

Humiliating.

Mom says the mass they removed was benign, but could have caused problems if they would have left it there. So those terrifying doctor people said we should be glad they got every bit of it out. But it hurt. LIKE REALLY BAD.

So, I did what any brave dog would do– I went to sleep. Luckily, we took a break from the van while I got better, and mom booked us a house in California where the sun shone brightly every day, which helped in my convalescence.

There was a bright spot– I got LOTS of cream cheese. There were some slimy pills inside it, but I didn’t mind, cause it was very tasty. Cream cheese is a real human delicacy, on par with Puppacinos.

The bestest part was that after about two weeks, mom FINALLY took the cone off– I’d been wearing it dutifully every night, wondering what I had done wrong to have this happen to me.

I’m pretty proud of my recovery– the before-and-after photos below really show my progress after a few weeks of healing, and after my stitches came out. Doesn’t it look better? It FEELS better. Mom says I’m at 99.9% now, and the .01% is only due to fur that just won’t grow back yet.

GROW already. I look silly at the dog park, but don’t you worry about Mac– I’m fine now.

PS– My mommy is the best nurse.
